Regular, punctual attendance is required unless a valid reason exists. Absences are to be communicated in one of the following means:
Contact the student absence line on (07) 3489 2260.
Parent/caregiver can write a separate note/letter of explanation.
Call the office during the day, preferably in the morning, on (07) 3489 2222.
Please do not use the classroom teacher to notify of an absence.
If your child/ren is/are marked as absent and the school has received no correspondence as to why then between 10:00 and 10:30am a daily unexplained absence report will run. A generic SMS message will be sent to the nominated parent advising of the child's absence and requesting an explanation. Parents are requested to reply to the SMS texting your child/s name and reason for absence.
If the school has not received notification of your child's absence after three days, a phone call to you will be made to confirm your child's legitimate absence. Parents will be alerted of suspected truancy. The school is required to report detected truancy to the Department of Child Safety.
